Someone once said, “If you don’t like bacon, then you are wrong,” ha ha. I’m not sure about that, but I am sure that this Thick-Cut Bacon in the Oven recipe is a fantastic and simple way to make an excellent batch of crispy bacon, every time. This easy-to-follow recipe is a perfect time-saving option and makes cleanup a snap. You just “set it and forget it,” and—BONUS!—you don’t have a hot pan of grease to mess with.

Our Thick-Cut Bacon in the Oven recipe is not only easy and convenient, it still gives that same great taste and comes out super crispy and flat. This recipe is also wonderful for making large batches of bacon whenever the WHOLE family comes for brunch. Plus, if there is any leftover bacon, it can be saved and easily reheated.

Yer Bacon Me Crazy!

The world has gone bacon crazy over the last few years. You can find bacon in more recipes than ever before and people are finding very creative ways to use this most excellent of meats. Thick-cut bacon is a wonderful addition to burgers, sandwiches, salads, and much, much more. This incredibly versatile meat is packed with flavor, so whether you are using it to enhance a dish or just having it as a snack, you really can’t go wrong. This oven-cooked bacon is convenient, quick, and comes out of the oven perfect every time. With such a low-maintenance side, you can focus on other breakfast items, like these Delicious Over-Hard Eggs.

FAQs & Tips

How do I prep and store this bacon?

To make this thick-cut bacon ahead of time, simply follow the recipe above. Once you have placed the bacon on the paper towels and let it cool, store it in an airtight container or plastic bag in the fridge for up to five days. You can also store it in the freezer for up to three months.

How can I reheat my cooked bacon?

Reheating is a snap. Just place the bacon on a sheet tray and warm it in a 375°F oven for two to three minutes or until it is nice and hot.

Does cooking bacon like this taste the same as the stovetop method?

Yes, it absolutely does. This recipe provides the same great taste and texture as bacon cooked on the stove and the bacon stays almost perfectly flat every time.

Cooking Tips

Ensure the bacon is evenly spaced out and not touching. This will keep the strips from sticking together and help them cook more evenly. You can also drain the excess bacon fat from the baking trays and save it in a mason jar. Then you can use it in place of your regular oil for a subtle bacon flavor. Grandma always used bacon fat in her biscuits and they were incredible.

Serving Suggestions

Our Thick-Cut Bacon in the Oven recipe is so good that you may never go back to cooking bacon on the stove again. It provides that same bacon flavor and can be used to jazz up tons of dishes, including eggs, soups, burgers, and, my personal favorite, adding a salty punch to potato salad.

Need a little extra breakfast inspiration? Try these Breakfast Potatoes or our Potato Pancakes—they are two of my family’s favorites and a wonderful addition to any breakfast spread. So is this French Toast Brûlée; it’s a real crowd-pleaser and perfect for anyone with a sweet tooth (including your kids!).
