Nothing says deliciousness like a hearty, savory Biscuits And Gravy Casserole.

Don’t you love a recipe that is super easy to make but tastes like you’ve spent the day preparing it? That’s a great way to describe this biscuits and gravy casserole, a deeply flavorful blend of flaky biscuits, cooked crumbled sausage, eggs, cheese, and, as far as I’m concerned, the star of the show: gravy!
I’ve written before about my love for all things gravy. It’s not necessarily something I would think to add to a breakfast casserole, but in this case, it’s absolutely perfect because this dish is a hearty homage to that favorite Southern classic, biscuits and gravy. In that one, soft biscuits are topped with a milk-based gravy made with cooked pork sausage. It’s so delicious. But then our recipe takes that idea and marries it to the proverbial comfort food—a casserole—to produce something so rich, decadent, and delectable that one bite will tell you this dish is about to become a family favorite.
And it could not be easier to make. No need to bake your own biscuits because refrigerated biscuit dough works perfectly here (though if you want to, this Buttermilk Biscuits recipe is great). Crumble and cook up some pork sausage, drain it (though I confess to leaving a bit of the fat in there because I love how it seeps into the biscuit dough), and start layering: sausage on top of biscuits, then shredded cheeses, then eggs whisked with milk, then the savory gravy, and into the oven it goes. After 30 minutes, top with more cheese and bake another 10 minutes until that cheese gets melty and gooey. Irresistible.

Pork Gravy Mix
Part of the real charm of this recipe is how easy it is to make, and a big part of that ease is the pork gravy mix. If you’ve never used an ingredient like this, you’ll be delighted by the absolutely beautiful and flavorful gravy that appears after you combine the mix with water, stir, heat, and then simmer until thick. Pork gravy mix is an incredible time-saver, and thanks to buttermilk solids, bacon fat, and spices, it has the perfect consistency and depth of smoky flavor for biscuits and gravy casserole. But if you want to save even more time, you can buy pork gravy in a jar, made by companies such as Heinz and Campbell’s.

How Do I Store Leftovers?
Cooked and cooled biscuits and gravy casserole can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and in the freezer for up to 2 months. Thaw in the fridge overnight before reheating.
