I am passionate food blogger and editor with a background in biomedical communications. I enjoy researching and writing about new recipes from my home base in Long Beach, California. When I am not writing or editing, I am most likely roller skating! I love to compete in artistic roller skating, perform in skating shows, and teach kids how to roller skate.
Experience
I have over 15 years of experience working as a professional medical editor and writer, from editing for Nature to working with top pharmaceutical companies like Janssen and Pfizer. I grew up in a family of doctors and scientists, so I spent a good chunk of my formative years playing with dry ice in my dad's laboratory. I later went on to work in an infectious disease laboratory in college, where I discovered my passion for biomedical editing after the other researchers found out I was great at formatting reference lists for their papers.
I especially love researching the history of science, but my main passion is healthcare equity. I have written and presented my research on healthcare equity at international conferences, and I hope to dedicate the rest of my biomedical career to advocating for equal healthcare access. You can see a couple examples of my published work here:
- One Culture: Science as Fiction and Future - Tin House
- World Tuberculosis Day 2016: A sweet-tempered dyspeptic: the 19th Century Consumptive Aesthetic | Research Communities by Springer Nature
I have also done extensive food editing. I love learning about new cooking techniques and exploring the culinary traditions of different cultures. I also believe that eating well is the best form of preventative medicine we have! Nourishing your body with delicious, homemade meals is one of the best things we can all do to shore up our long-term health.
