This quick and crispy Air-Fryer Popcorn Recipe makes the perfect snack, whether you enjoy it during a cozy movie night or as an afternoon treat!

One of my very favorite holiday memories is decorating the family Christmas tree with my siblings growing up. Each holiday season, we would drive to the nearby Christmas tree farm and select our favorite tree between mugs of hot chocolate. Once the tree was set up in our living room, we would string up ornaments from the Christmas boxes my mom pulled up from the cellar. After the ornaments were all on display, we would use a needle and thread to join pieces of popcorn into long strands. Each strand was wound around the tree like ribbon for a finishing touch on our holiday decor. The smell of popcorn popping always reminds me of those winter evenings making popcorn over our rustic kitchen stove.

With ever so slightly less time on my hands these days, I recently decided to try making popcorn in my trusty air fryer. Much to my delight, I developed this go-to recipe for air-fryer popcorn. All you need are popcorn kernels, a pinch of salt, and an air fryer. With just the touch of a button, you create a fresh batch of golden, crunchy popcorn.

If you’re looking for an easy way to make popcorn, then this recipe might just hit the spot! You can enjoy your popcorn as is, or you can experiment with adding different seasonings and toppings. This recipe is as simple as it is timeless—one you can enjoy all year round.

Customizing your air-fryer popcorn

One of the best parts of making popcorn from scratch is the limitless options you have for making it your own. I like to think of each fresh batch as a blank canvas for an endless combination of flavors. For a cheesy finish, you could sprinkle freshly grated Parmesan over your popcorn. In search of a flavor infusion? Try adding dried thyme, rosemary, or Italian seasoning for a gourmet twist. If you’re looking to transform this dish into a sweet treat, you could drizzle your popcorn with a little honey and a dash of cinnamon. I also like to add a handful of M&Ms or chocolate chips when I am craving something sweet. Last but not least, you can also go for a spicy kick. Add a pinch of smoked paprika, chili powder, or cayenne pepper to bring on the heat! Of course, these are just a few ideas of mine for how to make this popcorn recipe your own. The sky is the limit when it comes to customizing this recipe, so feel free to try other flavor combos until you find the perfect one for you.

How do I store leftovers?

If you don’t manage to get through all your popcorn in one sitting, you can certainly store it to enjoy later. Simply place leftover popcorn in an airtight container or plastic bag and store at room temperature for up to 1 week. I recommend keeping your leftovers in a cool, dry place to keep your popcorn crispy. It’s also best to avoid refrigerating leftover popcorn, as the humidity in the fridge can cause the kernels to become stale or chewy.

Serving suggestions

When it comes to serving popcorn, there is really no limit! For a sweet treat that you can serve at your next family gathering, you could whip up a batch of these yummy Popcorn Balls or this Peppermint Bark Popcorn. If you’re after a savory dish, I’d have to recommend this Delicious Taco Popcorn or this Easy Cheese Popcorn. Finally, you could also add your popcorn to a snack mix like this Toffee Nut Snack Mix.
