Chocolate-Covered Marshmallows are easy to make and will be loved by kids and adults alike!

Need an easy dessert your kids will go nuts for? Try chocolate-covered marshmallows! From birthday parties to summer outdoor gatherings, you literally can’t go wrong with this for any occasion. And here’s a little secret: you don’t even need kids or a special occasion as an excuse because you can make them just for yourself as a delectable treat! Who wouldn’t love to sink their teeth into a sweet, squishy marshmallow covered with thick, glossy chocolate?

The first time I had a chocolate-covered marshmallow was at a birthday party. I recall standing before a glorious, towering chocolate fountain. I had never seen anything so beautiful in my entire six years of life. And there, next to the fountain, were fruits and treats for dipping, including my favorite: marshmallows. While this recipe doesn’t require a fountain, the taste is basically the same.

What you’ll love about this recipe is that it’s quick and easy to make. Whether you’re throwing a party, having a casual get-together, or just need a no-fuss dessert, this recipe is guaranteed to please. It only takes 20 minutes to prep and is also fun to make with kids. They can dip the marshmallows into the chocolate (with adult supervision, of course) and decorate them with sprinkles or however they wish!

Experiment with chocolate

Want to play around with the flavor of your chocolate-covered marshmallows? Try using different types of chocolate. In this recipe, we used semisweet chocolate, which has a cacao percentage of about 60% and isn’t as intense as bittersweet chocolate (around 70% cacao). Kids especially may be more partial to milder flavors, so you might also want to try milk chocolate or even creamy white chocolate. Bear in mind that the latter may be a bit difficult to melt and can seize easily. Therefore, we recommend using white chocolate melting wafers.

In this recipe, we use chocolate chips, but you can also use a bar of chocolate chopped into small pieces. Another excellent idea is to experiment with the wide variety of flavored chocolate bars out there. I, for example, love using a bar of orange-flavored chocolate and topping my marshmallows with pieces of candied orange.

How do I store leftovers?

You can store your chocolate-covered marshmallows for about 7 days in an airtight container at room temperature. They can also be refrigerated for up to 2 weeks. Though the texture will change slightly upon thawing, you can even freeze them for about 2 months in a freezer-safe bag or an airtight container. Just make sure you double-wrap the fully hardened marshmallows to keep them moisture-free.

Serving suggestions

Serve your chocolate-covered marshmallows next to a cup of Rich And Creamy Hot Chocolate. If you’re making a platter of desserts for an event, put it next to other fun items like Frosted Sugar Cookies or Perfect Chocolate Chip Cookies. If you take them off the skewers, you can also use your chocolate-covered marshmallows as toppings for a cake. Try them with a Chocolate Birthday Cake or a Chocolate Peanut Butter Cake!
