It’s called a mixed berry cobbler, but in reality, it’s more like a fluffy cake with lots of berries and the most amazing crunchy cinnamon-y goodness baked on top.

I typically will make 5-10 things in a day and am not interested in sweets by the time I’ve made my second or third thing. But on this day, I couldn’t keep my fork out of this mixed berry cobbler.

Neither could anyone who was in the house. Every time someone walked by, they took a bite straight from the dish. My daughter also had friends over and they asked her if our house always smelled so amazing. It was the cinnamon top from this cobbler that they were smelling.

This recipe is a keeper. It’s so easy and so incredibly delicious. I’ve made it so many times and it’s just as incredible each time I eat it. It’s a dessert, but I really like it for breakfast. I’ve made this for brunch more often than I’ve served it after dinner.

Why You’re Going to Just Love This Recipe

  • This mixed berry cobbler will be calling your name all hours of the day – have it for breakfast, brunch, dessert, or a snack.
  • It comes together surprisingly quickly, but you can pass it off as a difficult recipe (it’s that good).
  • The flavors of fresh berries and cinnamon with a crunchy finish are unbeatable.
  • An ultimate comfort food, this mixed berry cobbler can make you feel cozy all year round.

What Makes this Mixed Berry Cobbler so Good?

When I first looked at this recipe and made it for the first time, I thought for sure it wasn’t going to work and that there had to be a typo. It seemed more like a loose cake batter, not a cobbler. But I was wrong, it does work, and well. It’s one of the best things I made all year.

  • The cobbler base is so light and fluffy and lets the fruit shine. Sometimes simple really is the best.
  • I’m a sucker for anything with a cinnamon top and this one is extra cinnamon. It is a LOT of cinnamon sugar and it bakes into a crust that is crispy perfection.
  • It has lots of texture. Tender cake. Soft berries. Crunchy top.

FAQs

What if I can’t find self-rising flour?

If you don’t have self-rising flour or you can’t find it at your local grocery store, you can add 2 teaspoons of baking powder to one cup of all-purpose and mix well.

Can I use frozen berries instead of fresh ones?

Of course! You can use frozen berries in this recipe, as they tend to hold a lot of moisture. Just be sure to defrost them first.

Could I use different fruit for this recipe?

Absolutely. As long as you follow the steps, you can swap out the mixed berried for diced apples, sliced bananas, cherries, or really anything you like!

How to Store Mixed Berry Cobbler

This cobbler can be wrapped up and placed into the refrigerator once cooled for up to 4 days. When you’re ready to reheat it, place it in the oven at 350°F for about 20 minutes, or until heated through.

You can also microwave individual servings, although it won’t maintain its crispy topping if heating this way. I wouldn’t recommend freezing your cobbler because the texture can become mushy once frozen.

Serving Suggestions

This mixed berry cobbler is technically a dessert, but I really like it for breakfast or brunch. I like to serve this dish with a bowl of freshly whipped cream, ice cream, or yogurt, and more fresh berries. If you need something cozy to wash it all down, my homemade Russian tea is divine with this cobbler. You could also whip up some hot cocoa or coffee before sitting down to indulge in this delicious dish.
