This Slow Cooker Taco Dip is sure to be a fan favorite at your next Sunday Football get-together with friends and family!

There is something about the arrival of fall and football season that just makes me want to bust out the slow cooker from the pantry. Every year, I can’t help but find myself searching for a new, delicious dip to add to the game day roster (pun intended). This slow-cooker taco dip is number one on my list this fall for the Sunday game. I always love a “set it and forget it” recipe, and this one is so easy to toss together in the morning and have it ready in time for the afternoon.
With a mix of simple, whole-food ingredients, this recipe has a low prep time that will make getting ready for guests a breeze. Whether you’re the one hosting or just need an appetizer to bring to the big Super Bowl party, this dip is convenient and sure to be a crowd-pleaser. It’s the deliciousness of tacos without the fuss or mess of tortillas, and I can guarantee you won’t have leftovers by the end of the game!
This taco dip is loaded with so much flavor, as the ground beef, cheese, and spices come together perfectly in the slow cooker. Adding the sour cream right into the mix also brings a tanginess to balance out the seasonings. As the sour cream and cheeses melt into the mixture during the cooking process, the result is that ideal creamy texture you want in a dip. When you serve it all up with the crunch of your favorite tortilla chips, you have a winning combo on your hands (pun intended, again!).

Perfectly Blended Flavors…
One thing I love about slow cooker recipes is the deep flavors that come out of the “low and slow” cooking method. This recipe is no different, and it really brings the taste of tacos to another level. While you don’t have to do much to get yourself a delicious dip in the end, there are a few things you can do to maximize flavor. To start, when browning the meat, you can sprinkle in a little extra taco seasoning to optimize the flavor. Also, be sure to drain any excess grease after this to avoid serving an overly greasy dip.
As for the cheese, while this recipe calls for cubed American, feel free to experiment with a variety of cheeses to enhance the flavor profile or give it a richer taste. When it’s ready for the slow cooker, make sure all ingredients are mixed well so it cooks evenly. You might consider occasionally stirring the mixture throughout the cooking process but don’t stress if you forget this part. While you really can’t mess up this slow cooker recipe, following these steps will help ensure the flavor goes above and beyond your expectations.

How do I store leftovers?
Taco dip leftovers store beautifully and are still delicious when reheated! After cooking, bring the dip to room temperature and transfer the leftovers to an airtight container. The dip can be refrigerated for up to 4 days. This dish freezes really well, too. After bringing the cooked dip to room temperature, transfer it to a freezer-safe container or bag (if using a bag, make sure you remove all air and flatten it). With proper storage, the dip can be frozen for up to 4 months. You can reheat in the microwave, on the stovetop, or in a crockpot on the low setting.

Serving Suggestions
I’ll admit, this taco dip is delicious and perfect as a standalone dish. With a bag of tortilla chips, it can most certainly fill up bellies without adding anything else to the menu. However, you do have other serving options if you want or need them! If you’re looking to make this dish even more filling, you can add Refried Beans to the mixture or serve it with the chips alongside the dip. This Mexican Créma is another great pairing when served with tortilla chips, or it can even be used as a topping if you want to use this mixture to make burritos! Or perhaps you’re looking for another Mexican-inspired appetizer? You can serve the dip with a Cheesy Quesadilla or a delicious dish of Loaded Nachos. Finally, don’t forget about these other game-day classic dips, like an Artichoke Dip, a Buffalo Chicken Dip, or a spicy Chicken Wing Dip. Just make sure you bring a big appetite to Sunday football!
