Enjoy a coffeehouse treat in the comfort of your own home with Pumpkin Spice Creamer: it’s not just for autumn!

I love autumn. The cooler temps, the cardigans, and the pumpkin spice season. While I’m not a huge fan of the pumpkin spice Oreos or Cheerios and some of the other spinoffs of the PSL craze (I’m looking at you, Starbucks), I do enjoy my coffee with pumpkin spice creamer. The warm, cozy sweetness makes for a perfect cup of coffee to start my day.

Coffeehouses and supermarkets only sell pumpkin spice flavored drinks and creamers from about mid-August until November, however. While technically, this covers the autumn season, I actually like the flavors year-round! And even bypassing the daily Starbucks trip and buying their pumpkin spice creamer at the store is still fairly expensive. Making my own pumpkin spice creamer is definitely more economical.

You will love making your own pumpkin spice creamer because it’s not only good for your budget, but it tastes amazing. By making your own, you know exactly what is going into it—no weird additives or chemicals. Finally, as you pour the creamer into your hot mug of coffee, you get all the good aromas: coffee, plus the sweet pumpkin spice flavors.

What’s In Pumpkin Pie Spice?

You can buy pumpkin pie spice in the spice aisle of your supermarket, which is super convenient. So, what’s in that little jar? Most pumpkin spice blends are a mixture of cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, allspice and cloves. Cinnamon makes up the bulk of the mixture, but each spice is important in creating that perfect blend of autumn flavor.

How Do I Store Leftovers?

Pumpkin spice creamer will last about a week in your refrigerator. Freezing is not recommended, so use it up while you have it. Storing it in a mason jar or other container with a tight-fitting lid is key, since you have to shake it before using it each time.

Serving Suggestions

Add pumpkin spice creamer to a mug of your favorite hot or iced coffee. I have a simple milk frother, which makes the pumpkin spice creamer a thick and frothy topping to my coffee (and looks barista-made!).

To go with your fantastic drink, serve warm and cozy favorites like Cinnamon Butter Buns or pancakes with Spiced Maple Syrup. Even if it’s not autumn, your pumpkin spice drink pairs well with year-round standards like Ham and Hash Brown Casserole or Christmas Breakfast Casserole.
