This Crock-Pot Buffalo Chicken recipe is tangy, creamy, and full of flavor—the perfect option for any weeknight dinner!

Buffalo chicken is, hands down, one of my favorite chicken varieties of all time. While chicken breast is often categorized as a healthy and lean source of protein, whenever it’s cooked into a Buffalo chicken dish, it instantly becomes a form of comfort food. The creamy texture and bold flavor make it such an enjoyable dish that I will never get bored with it. It’s not just me, though! Buffalo chicken ANYTHING (dip, sliders, pizza, etc.) is always a hit at parties and get-togethers, too.

This crowd-pleasing dish is so easy to make, it almost feels like you’re cheating by serving up something so delicious without spending hours in the kitchen. The recipe is straightforward with a very short ingredients list, making it a no-brainer when you don’t have a ton of time to spend in the kitchen. In just ten minutes, you can have everything prepped and ready to be cooked. Once you turn that Crock-Pot on, you can let it do all the “heavy lifting” for you! In just a few short hours, while you’re out running errands, at work, or maybe even taking some time for yourself (you deserve it!), you’ll have savory Buffalo chicken waiting for you, ready to be shredded and served.

It truly amazes me how the Crock-Pot can deliver such a flavor-packed sauce with only three ingredients while also keeping the chicken so tender and juicy. This Buffalo chicken recipe combines ranch seasoning with your favorite hot sauce, delivering a buttery, tangy taste that has just enough spice kicked into its flavor. It’s perfectly balanced to keep everyone’s taste buds happy! The rich flavor of the sauce makes it so easy to enjoy, and there are even a few add-ins to consider if you’re looking to enhance it. Green onions are a great option for garnishing at the end, while adding chopped jalapeños to the mix can crank up the spice level, if desired. If you’re looking for an even creamier texture, consider adding a half to a full block of cream cheese or some shredded cheddar cheese to the Crock-Pot mix. Have fun with it and experiment with different versions to see what you enjoy most!

So Many Meal Options

Depending on your schedule, this recipe can be used to conveniently meet many of your needs, especially during those busy seasons of life. While it can be prepped and cooked during the day for an easy weeknight dinner, this recipe is also simple enough to double and cook up a large batch for weekly meal prep. Once you have this Buffalo chicken on hand, there are so many options for serving. The chicken can be served on buns as a juicy sandwich, added on top of crunchy tortilla chips for nachos, wrapped in tortillas for taco night, thrown on top of a salad or pizza, served with crackers or raw veggies as a dip… the list of options is long! This is one of those recipes that has very easily become a staple in my household and is regularly in our meal rotation. Not only does everyone find it so delicious, but its versatility means that no one gets bored with it!

FAQs & Tips

How Do I Store Leftovers?

Once cooled, you can store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. It can be reheated again in the microwave, in a skillet on the stovetop, or in the oven at 325 degrees Fahrenheit for 20 minutes. If you decide to double the recipe and freeze half the batch for a future dinner, the cooked chicken will keep well for up to 3 months.

Can I Use Chicken Thighs Instead?

Yes! Chicken thighs will also yield excellent results.

Is This Crock-Pot Buffalo Chicken Gluten-Free?

Yes! Just check the labels to ensure the ranch seasoning and hot sauce are gluten-free.

Serving Suggestions

What you decide to pair your Buffalo chicken with will depend on how you want to serve it in the first place. If you’re looking to make sandwiches or sliders, a side of Baked French Fries or Sweet Potato Fries is a perfect choice. Or, if you’d prefer something a little lighter as a side, consider serving this Wedge Salad to complement the tang of the Buffalo chicken. Another great pairing that will add a little crunch as a side dish is a homemade coleslaw, like this Broccoli Slaw. With so many options to choose from, you’ll be able to keep this recipe in heavy rotation while making it a little different each time you serve it!
