The Healthy Facts

Chia seeds tea is a refreshing and nutritious beverage packed full of vitamins and antioxidants. These tiny seeds have been dubbed a super food, and for good reason. They contain many of the nutrients our bodies need everyday, like magnesium, zinc and calcium. They also happen to be high in fiber and loaded with omega 3 fatty acids, which are a complete protein and an excellent source of healthy fat. This is wonderful news for anyone on a plant based diet as it can help you meet many of your daily dietary needs.

Not only are chia seeds nutrient dense, they also help to provide numerous other health benefits. Like strengthening your immune system, lowering your risk of heart disease and helping to reduce inflammation. The fiber in these power packed seeds not only helps you to feel more satiated but also keeps you feeling full longer, great for those busy mornings or anyone trying to lose a little weight.

FAQs & Tips

How to Make Ahead and Store?

This beverage is perfect for making ahead of time. Simply follow the easy four ingredient recipe to make your chia seed tea then store in an air tight container in the fridge for up to three days.

My mixture has a jelly like texture, is that normal?

Yes, when soaked in liquid the seeds have a natural jelly like texture. Simply stir or shake to break up the seeds and evenly distribute them throughout the tea.

Can I make this super food even healthier?

You sure can! Adding in fruits like citrus can give you a great boost of vitamin C or other vitamins.

Are chia seeds harmful?

No they are not. The only thing you need to worry about is sometimes those little seeds can get stuck in your teeth, so best not to drink this tea before an important meeting or photo shoot.

Can I use a different liquid in my drink mix?

Yes, you can use anything from an aloe beverage to your favorite nut milk. Fruit juices like pomegranate and cranberry also work well and provide an extra pop of flavor along with more of the vitamins your body needs.

Serving Suggestions

This chia seeds tea recipe is already delicious, but that doesn’t mean you can’t add in your own flair. I recommend trying different teas and juices to easily change up the taste, feel free to experiment a little! Try all the flavor combinations you can think of and see what you like best. A few of my favorites are, cranberry, pomegranate, and blueberry lemonade. Adding in fresh berries like blueberry and raspberry or even fresh herbs like mint can give another layer of flavor to your teas as well. If you like your chia seeds tea a touch on the sweet side try adding in a splash of honey or maple syrup. Don’t be shy, give that new idea a try, it might just end up being your most delicious combo yet.
