- 1 pound ground beef 80/20
- Salt to taste
- Black pepper to taste
- 4 slices American cheese
- 4 hamburger buns
- Optional toppings: lettuce tomato slices, onion slices, pickles
Divide the ground beef into four equal portions and roll each into a ball.
Preheat a griddle or cast iron skillet over medium-high heat.
Place a ball of beef on the hot griddle. Cover with parchment paper and press down firmly with a heavy spatula to flatten into a thin patty.
Season the patty with salt and pepper. Cook for about 2-3 minutes until the edges are crispy and browned.
Flip the patty, add a slice of cheese, and cook for another 1-2 minutes until the cheese is melted and the patty is cooked to your liking.
Repeat with the remaining beef balls.
Assemble the burgers by placing each patty on a bun and adding your desired toppings.
