Instructions
Preheat oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit.
In a large pot, cook rotini pasta in boiling salted water until al dente. Drain and set aside.
In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef and diced onions until browned. Add salt and pepper. Stir in tomato sauce.
In a large mixing bowl, combine cooked pasta and beef mixture. Transfer to a 2-quart baking dish.
Cover with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes.
Remove foil, sprinkle with shredded mozzarella cheese, and return to oven for an additional 5-10 minutes, or until cheese is bubbly and golden.
Serve warm.
