Spicy cinnamon whiskey and orange juice come together in the Fireball And Orange Juice Cocktail, a perfect drink for the holidays!

After I made this Fireball and orange juice cocktail for the first time around the holidays, I knew it would become a tradition. Now, I drink it every Christmas, usually while watching the 2005 holiday dramedy The Family Stone.

You’re probably grimacing at the thought of mixing a cinnamon whiskey with orange juice. I understand the aversion. But trust me—this “questionable” combo tastes incredible.

Mixed drinks are a science, though you don’t need to be a mixologist to make this cocktail. For one thing, I keep the ingredients to a minimum. Between the sweet orange juice and the spiced whiskey, there’s enough going on here. However, if you can’t find pomegranate, fresh cranberries are a great alternative.

All you need is some sparkling water for a little bubbly to keep the drink feeling light. I also like to sprinkle in pomegranate seeds for a good color, and their natural tartness plays well with this cocktail’s flavor.

Shake it like you mean it

This only takes a few simple ingredients: Fireball, orange juice, sparkling water, and pomegranate seeds (optional). Seriously. That’s it! There’s also another key component to this drink, and that’s a cocktail shaker. You pretty much don’t have a cocktail without one of these bad boys in your cabinet.

Can you mix a cocktail without one? I suppose you could give it a good stir and still enjoy a decent drink. That said, shaking the Fireball and orange juice creates a light froth, which helps the cocktail taste less syrupy. If you’ve ever tried Fireball on its own, you know how sickly sweet that stuff is. So, shake away—you’ll have a well-chilled and balanced drink.

How do I store leftovers?

Honestly? Don’t. This cocktail tastes best fresh. The sparkling water will go flat, dulling the overall flavor. That said, you can mix the Fireball and orange juice up to a day ahead. Just don’t add the sparkling water or ice until you’re ready to serve.

Serving suggestions

I consider this cocktail a holiday drink, so I like to pair it with some of my festive faves, including Cranberry-Walnut-Blue Cheese Pinwheels. It’s a rich, sweet, and savory combo made with crescent dough. Perfect for parties! I also love this Grand Cru-Inspired Cheese Board With Apple Cranberry Chutney, a simple crowd-pleaser with something for everyone. For something more brunchy, bake a batch of Christmas Stollen Scones and a savory Christmas Breakfast Casserole.
