The easiest way to enjoy corn on the cob!

Corn on the cob is a great side dish. It’s sweet and can be made a bit savory with a little butter, salt, and pepper. A lot of people like to grill, boil, steam, or even bake corn on the cob, but all these methods take more time. Preheating a grill, preheating an oven, or waiting for a pot of water to boil sometimes isn’t quite fast enough, especially if you’re like me and you’ve got kids on the verge of a hangry meltdown. Sometimes, you just need food on the table now.
If you do need food right now, then it’s time for the microwave to come to the rescue! Microwaving corn in the husk makes things so much easier, not just by offering you an opportunity to eat corn quickly but also by saving you the hassle of spending ages peeling off the husk and the corn silk. Every time I try to shuck corn, I always end up with extra strands of silk that stay stuck. Eating cornsilk feels a bit like eating hair, so no one wants that.
This microwaved corn on the cob was a real game-changer for me. Sometimes, when you microwave food, it just doesn’t turn out right. It’s perfectly edible, but it does make a difference to the texture. But what’s wonderful about microwaving corn in the husk is that keeping it all covered in the husk improves the texture.

Butter Up!
I can’t imagine eating corn without butter. While corn is naturally sweet, it’s so much better when it’s made a little salty, a little greasy even. Set aside some good butter to melt over your corn when you’re done microwaving it, and make sure you do it while the corn is still nice and steamy to get that good, drippy melted butter.

How to Make Ahead and Store
Storing your corn is easy. Just pop it into a sealed bag and push out the air before putting it into your refrigerator! However, I wouldn’t recommend microwaving your corn before you’re ready to eat it.
Protect Your Hands!
The microwave will make your corn very hot, so you need to take some precautions to avoid hurting yourself. Use tongs to pick up your corn to keep the heat away from your fingers. And be cautious of steam when removing the husks. Steam can burn just as painfully as any other hot object, yet many people underestimate it. If you don’t have tongs, oven mitts will also protect your hands but can make it a little harder to handle the corn.

Serving Suggestions
You can serve your corn on the cob as a side dish for almost any meal! It goes great with a nice Vegetarian Pasta Salad. If you put a little cilantro on your corn on the cob to get some Mexican flavors, serve it with Mexican Avocado Chicken Salad. Â You can also serve corn next to classic American foods like Hamburgers and hot dogs!

Microwave Corn on the Cob
Ingredients Â
- 4 ears of corn husk on
- 4 tablespoons butter optional
InstructionsÂ
- Place the corn in the microwave, do not remove the husk. Microwave the corn on the high setting for 4 minutes. Note that every microwave is different. If this timing over-cooks the corn in your microwave, reduce it to 2 to 3 minutes the next time.

- Use tongs or a pot holder to remove corn from the microwave (it's hot!). Cut off the bottom of the corn, stem end, about one row of corn in from the stem.

- Slip off the husk and silk. That’s it! Enjoy your corn on the cob with optional butter.
