No grill? No problem. These Air-Fryer Brats are ready in minutes.

A summer day, especially on a weekend, calls for a brat with all of the fixings. But when the weather’s not cooperating, nobody feels like dragging out the grill. Well, if you’ve got an air fryer on hand, you have a great backup plan. Brats come out of the air fryer crisp and sizzling, with a skin that has that satisfying snap when you bite into it. No grill necessary.
If you need a quick lunch, a casual dinner, or something to throw on when friends with kids drop by, this is a great go-to. The brats cook in about 10 minutes and pair well with just about any other quick, simple side you can think of. They only need to be flipped once, so there’s no need to hover over them or tend to them while cooking. While they’re in the air fryer, I like to focus on the fun part—building a toppings bar.

Why do I need to cut along the side?
Air fryers cook with very intense heat, and the brats can essentially explode inside. This is because of a rapid build-up of steam in the brat casing, which has nowhere to escape—hence the explosion. If you cut a few slits into the casing, you will help to release this steam, and there won’t be such a build-up of pressure, lessening the chances that your brats burst in the air fryer.
How do I store leftovers?
Store leftover brats in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days. You can reheat them in the air fryer at 350°F for about 3-4 minutes until warmed through.

Serving suggestions
I love to serve brats as part of a traditional cookout spread. Serve them with a side of Bread And Butter Pickles, some Fresh Corn Salad, and some Jamaican Coleslaw. If you’re feeling adventurous, you could even make your own Hot Dog Buns! Of course, don’t forget the ketchup, mustard, relish, sauerkraut, and any other fixings you like to add to your brats.
